Helping couples, throuples, and diverse partnerships standing at the edge of a breaking point step out of the limbo of indecision, while confronting the unspoken truths of their relationship, allowing them to gain absolute clarity on whether to repair or release their connection

You are trapped in the agonizing, silent warfare of the "in-between."

One morning, you wake up, look at them sleeping, and feel a sudden, desperate ache to save it, clinging to the ghosts of who you used to be, the warmth of a shared laugh, and the crushing weight of a history you are terrified to abandon. By nightfall, the air in the room has turned to lead. You find yourself suffocating under a mountain of unspoken resentment, quietly calculating the logistics of your exit, and wondering how much of your one, wild life is being slowly, systematically drained away in a partnership that has become an emotional desert.

You are utterly exhausted from the circular, venomous arguments that resolve nothing, only leaving you both bloodied and more distant than before. You are tired of the freezing, hostile silences that stretch across the dinner table, the physical sickness in your stomach when their car pulls into the driveway, and the cold, late-night panic of the ultimate double-bind: Am I wasting my life by staying, or am I about to make the most catastrophic mistake of my life by leaving?

When a relationship reaches this razor-thin edge, traditional couples therapy is not just useless; it can be actively harmful. Trying to force "repair" and teach communication skills when one or both of you has already checked out only breeds deeper resentment and forces you to perform an intimacy that no longer exists. You do not need to learn how to use "I" statements right now; you need to decide if you even want to look them in the eye anymore.

You need to stop the bleeding. You need a structured, time-limited, and uncompromisingly honest container to answer the one terrifying question you’ve been avoiding: Is this relationship actually viable, or are you just keeping a corpse warm?

Relational Discernment is not a desperate attempt to save your relationship at all costs, nor is it a fast-track to a breakup. It is a highly specialized, clinical intervention designed to help partners step out of the paralyzing fog of indecision, look at the raw truth of their connection, and make a clean, courageous decision about their future with absolute clarity and psychological dignity.

You’re ready to:

  • Stop the slow, agonizing bleeding of indecision and finally make clear, grounded decisions about your future with absolute confidence.

  • End the circular, exhausting arguments that resolve nothing and waste energy, and redirect that focus to finding a lasting solution.

  • Level the playing field of commitment, having all partners come to an honest, transparent space where nobody has to walk on eggshells or pretend.

  • Confront the raw truth about your relationship structure, evaluating whether your monogamous, open, or polyamorous agreements are actually viable, or if they have become a source of chronic anxiety and hyper-vigilance.

  • Choose a definitive path to either engage in a structured six-month period of intensive relational repair with separation or dissolution off the table, or transition into conscious uncoupling.

  • Protect your peace of mind, stop trying to keep a dying connection warm out of fear, and choose a different path that honors your truth, your partners, and the history that you’ve shared.

How it works:

How Limbo Manifests in Your Relationship Structure

We do not believe in a one-size-fits-all model of love. Whether you are navigating traditional monogamy or alternative relationship structures, we address the unique, complex pressures that are keeping you paralyzed:

1. The Monogamous Impasse: The Weight of Finality

In monogamous relationships, the decision to stay or go often feels like a high-stakes, all-or-nothing gamble. You are fighting against the societal script of "forever," wondering if you have simply grown apart or if the foundation itself is toxic.

  • The Limbo: You are paralyzed by the fear of regret, the pain of dismantling a shared life, home, and family, and the terrifying question: Is there still a spark worth fighting for, or are we just staying together because we are afraid of being alone?

2. The Open Relationship Fracture: The Boundary Crisis

For couples who have opened their relationship, the crisis often centers around a breakdown in agreements, trust, or emotional safety. The very structure that was meant to bring freedom has become a source of profound anxiety and hyper-vigilance.

  • The Limbo: You are caught in an exhausting cycle of renegotiating rules that keep getting broken, dealing with unmanageable jealousy, or realizing that opening the relationship was a band-aid on an already fracturing foundation. You must decide: Do we close the relationship to heal, restructure our agreements entirely, or accept that our paths have permanently diverged?

3. The Polyamorous & Multi-Partner Strain: Systemic Realignment

In polyamorous networks, throuples, or triads, a crisis in one connection ripples through the entire relational ecosystem. The complexity of managing multiple emotional attachments, schedules, and evolving desires can lead to severe burnout, neglect, or intense loyalty conflicts.

  • The Limbo: You are struggling with unequal dynamics, feeling pushed to the margins of your own relationship, or realizing that the capacity to meet everyone's needs is depleted. You need to determine: Can this multi-partner system be rebalanced and restored, or is it time to consciously transition a specific connection out of the web?

The Discernment Process

We do not engage in traditional, open-ended couples counseling. We do not sit back and watch you rehash old arguments, nor do we try to force a premature reconciliation. Instead, we step in as active, objective clinical strategists, guiding you through a highly structured, short-term container (typically 4 to 6 sessions) designed to lower the emotional reactivity and bring absolute clarity to your relationship structure.

Whether you are a monogamous couple, an open partnership, or a polyamorous triad, we help you navigate this crisis by providing:

  • A Highly Structured, Low-Conflict Space: We actively manage the room. We do not allow sessions to devolve into exhausting shouting matches or blame-shifting. We keep the focus strictly on the core, systemic issues, ensuring every partner feels heard, respected, and emotionally safe.

  • Individual & Systemic Check-Ins: Because different "parts" of you are often at war during a crisis, we utilize both joint sessions and brief, individual check-ins. This allows the "leaning-out" partner to speak their truth without fear of retaliation, and the "leaning-in" partner to process their grief and anxiety constructively.

  • Structure-Specific Auditing: We don't impose a standard relationship template.

    • For monogamous partners, we audit the viability of your shared values and long-term alignment.

    • For open and polyamorous partners, we conduct a direct, clinical audit of your boundary agreements, communication protocols, and the emotional capacity of your system to see where the fracture actually lies.

  • Uncompromising Honesty & Direct Feedback: We do not sugarcoat the reality. We help you look at the hard data of your relationship, the history of ruptures, the level of resentment, and the willingness of each partner to do the work, so you can make a decision based on reality, not wishful thinking or fear.

  • A Clear, Three-Path Framework: We guide your system toward one of three concrete, definitive decisions. We take the guesswork out of the future by requiring a clear commitment to one specific path.

The Three Paths of Discernment

At the end of our short-term container, we help your relationship system align on one of three clear, actionable decisions:

  • Path 1: The Status Quo
You choose to keep the relationship exactly as it is today. While this is an option, partners rarely choose it, as the current state is the very source of the pain, anxiety, and exhaustion that brought you to our office.

  • Path 2: Conscious Separation or Dissolution
You decide that the relationship has run its course and that the healthiest, most respectful choice is to end it. We immediately pivot to supporting a clean, conscious uncoupling. We help you dismantle the relationship structure with dignity, minimize the emotional collateral damage, and, if children are involved, transition seamlessly into a professional co-parenting partnership.

  • Path 3: A Six-Month Commitment to Intensive Repair
You agree to take breakup, divorce, or separation completely off the table for a designated six-month period. You commit to rolling up your sleeves and diving into intensive, structured relational therapy, putting 100% of your effort into rebuilding the foundation. If, at the end of those six months, the repair has not taken, you can revisit the decision to separate with the peace of mind that you left absolutely nothing on the table.
