Helping Families untangle their past, break the silence, and address old wounds, so that they can reconnect, rebuild, and heal the system to free themselves.
The moment you cross that threshold, the capable adult you have spent years building is instantly erased.
You are all adults now. You have your own keys, your own bills, and a life you built with your own two hands. Yet, as you pull up to the curb of your childhood home for the holiday dinner, your hands are sweating, gripping the steering wheel so hard your knuckles turn white. You stare at the front door through the windshield, your throat tightening as a cold, heavy anchor of dread drops straight into your stomach. You take one last, desperate breath of quiet air, paste on a forced smile, and step out of the car.
The moment you cross that threshold and the door clicks shut behind you, the capable adult you have spent years building is violently erased.
The heavy smell of the roasting turkey, the sharp clinking of wine glasses, and the loud, forced laughter echoing from the living room don’t feel warm; they feel suffocating. In a split second, your body betrays you. Your shoulders brace for impact, your chest constricts, and you are dragged decades backward in time, instantly shrinking into the hyper-vigilant, quiet, or angry child you had to be to survive this house. The old, toxic scripts are handed to you with your coat, and you are expected to play your part.
You find yourself trapped in a painful, exhausting performance, swallowing your own bile while everyone pretends everything is beautiful.
Maybe you are a mother and an adult daughter standing in the cramped, hot kitchen. As you help her plate the food, she leans in, and every comment she whispers feels like a jagged glass shard, a passive-aggressive dig about your weight, a subtle cut about your parenting, or a dismissive shrug about your career, all wrapped in the sickening sweetness of maternal concern. You stand there, your heart hammering against your ribs, swallowing a hot, metallic surge of rage, biting your tongue until it bleeds just to keep from screaming.
Maybe you are a father and an adult son sitting in the living room, trapped in a freezing, heavy silence while the television screen flickers against the walls. You are two grown men sitting inches apart, desperately starving for each other’s respect, yet utterly paralyzed by a lifetime of past neglect, unbending pride, and the crushing, unspoken disappointment of never being "enough." The silence between you is so thick it feels like ash in your mouth.
And then there is the sibling sitting across the room. You are two adult siblings, yet the moment you look at each other, the old wounds of favoritism, comparison, and childhood rivalries that never actually died rip wide open. Every interaction is a passive-aggressive battleground of subtle digs, eye-rolls, and cold shoulders.
But the most brutal, heartbreaking part isn't just the war between the adults; it’s watching the poison bleed down into the next generation.
You look over at the couch and watch your own children sitting there, sensing the freezing, heavy tension in the room. They are cousins who should be playing, laughing, and building lifelong bonds, but instead, they are walking on eggshells, mimicking the cold distance and silent hostility they see in their parents and aunts or uncles. You are forcing your children to inherit a family feud they didn't ask for, teaching them to build the same defensive walls that have kept you isolated for decades.
You look around the holiday table, watching them pass the serving dishes, and a wave of profound, hollow loneliness washes over you. These are the people who are supposed to know you best, yet you have never felt more invisible. You are walking on eggshells, suffocating in the space between what you need to say and what you are allowed to say, hiding your true self just to make it to dessert without a screaming match.
You love each other, but the brutal, bleeding truth is that you are completely exhausted by each other.
You leave the dinner feeling emotionally hungover, staring blankly out the window on the drive home, your head throbbing in the dark. You are caught in an agonizing, lonely vice grip, torn between the burning guilt of wanting to skip the next holiday and the weeping, hollow grief of losing the family connection you so desperately wish you had.
You cannot heal this by pretending, and you cannot force them to finally understand the depth of the pain they caused.
You’re ready to:
Dismantle the childhood scripts that keep you shrinking the moment you engage with your family.
Learn to say “No,” protecting your peace, and set firm boundaries on unsolicited advice, passive-aggressive digs, and emotional dumping.
Protect your children from inheriting the family poison, breaking the intergenerational tension, and cold distance so that your children and their cousins can build healthy, loving relationships.
Break the exhausting cycle of enmeshment and codependency, untangling your emotional well-being, self-worth, and nervous system from your family’s moods, anxieties, and expectations.
Navigate the threat or aftermath of estrangement, whether you’re trying to prevent a total break or carefully rebuild a bridge after years of silence; navigate reconciliations with clarity and safety.
Stop performing, and start living, retiring from the exhausting role of the “perfect child” the “troublemaker” or the “peacekeeper,” and build a relationship with your family that is honest, rather than a forced obligation.

How it works:
Our approach is deeply rooted in Psychodynamic Depth Psychology and Bowen Family Systems Theory. We look at your family not as a collection of isolated individuals, but as an emotional ecosystem, a complex, living system governed by unspoken rules, invisible loyalty binds, and generational anxiety.
Together, we will map the hidden currents of your family system and rewrite the relational contract on your terms.
1. De-escalating the Systemic Charge
Before we can do the deep work, we must lower the high emotional voltage. Using a family systems lens, we help you identify the "triangles" in your family, the toxic patterns where two members band together against a third, or use a child or sibling to manage their own anxiety. We create a secure, structured clinical container where everyone can speak their truth without being interrupted, dismissed, or gaslit, halting the immediate cycle of defensiveness and blame.
2. Mapping the Intergenerational Blueprint (The Genogram)
We look honestly at your family tree to trace the invisible inheritance of trauma, neglect, and unspoken expectations. By mapping your family’s history across generations, we expose the "intergenerational transmission process", the ways in which your parents' unhealed wounds and your grandparents' anxieties have been unconsciously passed down to you and your siblings. Understanding how the system was built is the first step to freeing yourself from it.
3. Auditing the Unconscious Scripts, Parts, and Defenses
Families survive by forcing their members into rigid, unconscious archetypes and childhood scripts such as the Scapegoat, the Golden Child, the Caretaker, the Hero, or the Rebel. In this phase, we conduct a deep audit of the survival parts of your personality that had to split off to keep the peace, and the defense mechanisms you built to protect them, such as projection, denial, and personalization. These defenses explain why families cannot communicate honestly, constantly falling back on shifting blame, denying reality, and taking things personally. We directly address the physical and psychological defenses that lock you into these childhood roles, specifically targeting the somatic bracing like a tight chest, a clenched jaw, or a stomach knot that your body uses to keep these defenses in place. By bringing these unconscious scripts and survival parts into the light, we help you consciously retire from these performances, releasing the heavy somatic stress of carrying your family’s unexpressed grief and rage.
4. Reclaiming Your Individual Center (Differentiation of Self)
The core of Bowenian and psychodynamic work is differentiation, the psychological capacity to be deeply connected to your family while remaining completely independent as an individual. We help you untangle your nervous system from the family's emotional reactivity. You will learn how to stand in the room with your parent or sibling, feel the pull of their anxiety or guilt trips, and choose not to react. You stop absorbing their emotional debris, allowing you to remain grounded in your own adult truth.
5. Negotiating the New Relational Contract
In the final phase, we translate this deep insight into unshakeable, real-world boundaries. We do the practical, heavy work of defining how you will interact moving forward. We establish clear, healthy guidelines for communication, visits, and off-limit topics. We help you build a new, peer-to-peer relationship grounded in reality, one that accepts each other’s limitations, honors your autonomy, and protects the emotional well-being of the next generation.
